Ryan Swain – You, Me & ADHD

It was wonderful to welcome Ryan Swain, motivational speaker and founder of the You, Me & ADHD awareness tour, to our school on Wednesday. Ryan delivered a powerful and inspiring talk, sharing his personal journey of growing up with undiagnosed ADHD and the challenges he experienced throughout his childhood and school years. Having received his diagnosis as an adult, Ryan now uses his lived experience to visit schools and communities, helping to raise awareness of ADHD, challenge misconceptions and encourage greater understanding and acceptance.

During his visit, Ryan spoke openly about how ADHD can affect learning, behaviour, emotions, friendships and everyday life, as well as the impact it can have on family members, teachers and those around the individual. He highlighted the importance of looking beyond behaviour, recognising that there is often much more going on beneath the surface, and ensuring that children feel understood, supported and able to reach their full potential.

Ryan’s message was an incredibly positive one: that ADHD does not have to define or limit a person’s future, and that with the right understanding and support, everyone has the opportunity to recognise their strengths and achieve great things.

We would like to thank the parents who joined us for this valuable opportunity to learn more about ADHD and how we can work together to support our children. We are incredibly grateful to Ryan for visiting us, sharing his experiences so honestly and helping us to develop a deeper understanding of neurodiversity.

We found Ryan’s talk truly inspiring and hope that his powerful message of understanding, acceptance and celebrating individual strengths stays with our school community.
